Ugly/Beautiful.

Would you consider these Cape Town buildings, known as Disa Park, to be ugly or beautiful? Around here they're generally regarded as one of the city's ugliest architectural blights-- though I have to say I rather like them. I do understand the point that they sort of hamper the view of Table Mountain (blocked out in this photo by heavy cloud-cover), but I find something about them elegant. I don't know, maybe it's some strange connection I've carried from childhood that round high rises equal glamorous living. What are your thoughts?

They kinda look ugly to me...reminds me of Hawaiian condos on Waikiki beach. But I know what you're saying...kinda reminds me of the 70's and early 80's opulence. However, your photography always manages to transform an image into something poetic and beautiful. So, maybe it's true...the photographer edits the content...

I like them! They remind me of that cool round apartment building in Chicago. I used to pass it going back and forth to the L.

I also thought tall buildings were glamorous growing up. When we passed high rises in Phoenix I remember thinking I wanted to work in them one day. I do fly over them but have never worked in them. ;)

In my mind the appeal of these towers is a contextual matter; try photographing them from the Foreshore. You may then also question the appeal when they are viewed in the context of the city-bowl and the mountain backdrop?

They're beautiful from any vantage point. ;)

I lived there from 76 to 81.Best place to be for a young boy.We had the mountain, tennis courts, pool and so much more.We gave the care taker,Mr Cuiro, a hard time. Now looking at the buildings makes me happy. They stand out like a sore thumb but I think most Cape Tonians have gotten used to them now. How any person could have approved this project in the late 60s though is beyond me.
